What I'm Reading This Month
Fast Like a Girl by Dr. Mindy Pelz
In Fast Like a Girl, Dr. Mindy Pelz explores the power of fasting and how it can transform women's health. She explains how fasting isn't just about weight loss—it helps balance hormones, boost energy, enhance mental clarity, and improve overall well-being. The book emphasizes the importance of aligning fasting with a woman’s unique hormonal cycle to optimize benefits and prevent burnout. By listening to their bodies and using a flexible, science-backed approach, women can make fasting a powerful tool to boost energy, sharpen focus, and take charge of their well-being. This book is fascinating and packed with insightful research! I am going to begin the 16:8 fasting method in March and see how it works for me. My goal is to experience autophagy. Autophagy is the body's natural process of cell renewal, where old or damaged cells are cleared out to make way for healthier, more efficient ones. What a wonderful way to help my body Flourish.
Recipe of the Month
Cottage Cheese Pancakes - Keto/Low Carb
Ingredients
- ¾ cup almond flour
- ½ cup cottage cheese (full fat)
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tablespoon melted butter
- 1 tablespoon sweetener (I use Lakanto monkfruit)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- Pinch of salt
- Cooking oil for frying
Directions
- Preheat a non-skillet over medium-low heat.
- Place all ingredients in a bowl and blend together using an immersion blender. If you don’t have one, you can use a countertop blender or even a food processor instead.
- Grease the preheated skillet with oil.
- Measure out ¼ cup of batter and pour it into the skillet. Spread it gently using a teaspoon or a spatula.
- Cook for 2 minutes or until bubbles start to form on the surface. Flip and cook the other side for 2 more minutes or until your pancake turns golden brown.
- Repeat the process with the remaining batter.
- Serve with toppings of your choice.
Make a few extra and store them in the refrigerator for a few days—perfect for reheating and enjoying a high-protein, low-carb breakfast.
Stretch of the Month
~simple moves to refresh your body and mind~
Child's Pose
Child’s pose offers a moment of stillness and rest, reminding us that pausing can be just as powerful as movement. It’s a simple yet foundational pose that encourages us to slow down, breathe, and just be.
Child’s Pose gently stretches the back and hips while inviting relaxation. Kneel with your knees wide to the edges of your mat, sit back on your heels, and fold forward, resting your forehead on the floor or rest your hands on staked fists. You can also try extending your arms in front of you resting them on the mat. Breathe deeply, soften, and enjoy the release for 8 breath cycles of inhaling and exhaling.
Important Note:
As always with any poses, remember to take care of yourself and consult your doctor before beginning any exercise program.
Self-Care Tip of the Month
Listening to Your Body’s Wisdom
Your body communicates with you in quiet whispers, but understanding its language takes practice. In our fast-paced lives, it’s easy to dismiss subtle signals, yet they offer valuable insight into our well-being. Developing a strong connection with your body means slowing down, tuning in, and listening with openness.
This requires intentional practice. Take time to sit, let go of the outside world, and truly tune into your body. Find a comfortable position—and eliminate any external noise. Gently bring your attention inward. What do you notice? Any sensations, aches, or areas of tenderness? Where do you feel light, healthy, or alive?
Your body is always communicating. Ask yourself: Is there anything I need to change, add, or adjust to feel my best? By regularly checking in and honoring what your body is telling you, you cultivate greater awareness, balance, and well-being.
You have this one incredible body—nurture it, listen to it, and care for it with intention.
Did you know I'm also a life coach? Think of it as a gym membership for your soul! Curious if life coaching is the right next flourishing move for you? Let's connect on a free Discovery Call and talk about the possibilities.
I believe self-care is not a luxury—it’s a necessity. It requires intentional practice of the habits that nurture and sustain a healthy body, mind, and soul.
