Reflect, Release, and Renew — A Gentle Review of 2025

December always invites me to slow down, look back, and notice the blessings, lessons, and growth that this year has held. It’s one of my favorite rhythms — pausing to reflect before stepping into what’s next.

This month, I’m sharing a few of my favorite practices and prompts to help you reflect, release, and renew as you review your 2025. Take some quiet time with a warm drink, a cozy blanket, and your journal — and let gratitude guide your thoughts as you prepare your heart for the new year ahead.

As this year comes to a close, take time to pause and reflect on all that’s unfolded — the moments that stretched you, the joys that filled you, and the quiet ways God has been working in your life.

Reflection is a powerful form of self-care. It helps us notice how far we’ve come, celebrate the growth that’s happened in unexpected places, and release what no longer serves us. It’s not about perfection or productivity — it’s about awareness, acceptance, and action, all grounded in gratitude and grace.

When we look back with honesty and appreciation, we create space in our hearts for what’s next. This is how we enter a new year not rushed or burdened, but renewed and grounded in peace.

Journaling Prompts for Your Year-End Reflection

  1. What moments, experiences, or people brought you the most joy this year?
  2. In what ways did you grow — personally, physically, spiritually, or emotionally?
  3. What challenges helped shape your strength or deepen you and your faith?
  4. What is something you’re ready to release as you move into 2026?
  5. What do you sense God inviting you toward in this next season?

What I'm Reading This Month

As we step into a new year, it’s the perfect time to take a closer look at what’s been living in our minds — the thoughts, stories, and patterns that quietly shape how we feel and how we show up in our daily lives.

Here’s something freeing to remember: "Your thoughts are optional."

Every day, your brain offers thousands of thoughts — some helpful, others heavy. But just because a thought shows up doesn’t mean it’s true or that you have to keep it. You get to pause, notice, and choose.

This month, I’ve been digging back into the book Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself by Dr. Joe Dispenza, and it’s such an eye-opening reminder of how powerful our minds are. He explains that when we change our thoughts, we begin to change our emotions, behaviors, and even the energy we bring into the world. In other words — transformation begins from the inside out.

When you intentionally choose thoughts that align with peace, gratitude, and faith, you begin to create a life that feels lighter, calmer, and more purposeful. That’s the true heart of self-care.

When a negative or fearful thought shows up, take a breath and ask:

  • Is this thought true?
  • Is it helpful?
  • Is this thought helping me to be my best-self?
  • What else could I choose to believe right now?

You can’t always control what thoughts appear, but you can decide which ones get to stay.

Self-Care Tip of the Month

“Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”Joshua 1:9

This season, you might feel a gentle nudge in your spirit — a dream stirring, a change calling, or a step that feels both exciting and uncertain. God often invites us to move forward before we feel fully ready.

Courage isn’t the absence of fear; it’s faith in motion. It’s trusting that even when your knees are shaking, God will steady your steps. Sometimes the most powerful thing you can do is say yes — to growth, to possibility, to becoming who you were created to be.

As you close out this year, listen to those whispers in your heart. What might God be asking you to move toward? What dream or desire has He placed within you that’s waiting for your yes?

Take the step — do it afraid. God will meet you right where you are and guide you as you go.
