Anne’s Favorite Things

Well, Molly from Black Dirt Homestead has done it again. I have discovered her tallow shampoo. I've been using this shampoo for over a month now, and I'm absolutely loving the results!

Why I Love It

  • Natural Lather: Unlike many natural shampoos, Molly's tallow shampoo creates a rich lather that leaves my hair feeling incredibly clean and refreshed.
  • Natural Ingredients: Made with locally sourced tallow, this shampoo is free from harsh chemicals and synthetic fragrances.
  • Moisturizing Benefits: Tallow is rich in fatty acids that help lock in moisture, leaving my hair soft, shiny, and manageable.

The Benefits of Tallow Shampoo

  • Gentle Cleansing: Tallow shampoo gently cleanses the hair without stripping it of its natural oils, making it suitable for all hair types.
  • Scalp Health: It's good for your scalp and can reduce excess oiliness or dryness.
  • Nourishment: The vitamins and fatty acids in tallow nourish and strengthen hair, promoting healthy growth and reducing breakage.

If you're looking for a natural shampoo that leaves your hair feeling clean and healthy, I highly recommend giving Molly's homemade tallow shampoo a try. I'm sure you'll love it as much as I do! She is now experimenting on developing a tallow hair conditioner. I'll be the first to try it out once it's ready.

What I'm Reading This Month

Mel Robbins’ The Let Them Theory is all about freeing yourself from the stress of trying to control others. A simple, but powerful message. "Let them". Let people be who they are, make their own choices, and show you their true selves. When we stop wasting energy on what others do (or don’t do), we can focus on our own well-being, peace, and joy. In addition to "Let them," Mel Robbins' book beautifully explores the idea of "Let Me," which is all about embracing your own power and giving yourself permission to take the first step. It's a gentle yet powerful reminder to trust yourself, own your decisions, and move forward with confidence—allowing you to live more authentically and align with your true intentions. It’s an empowering mindset shift—one that aligns beautifully with the self-care and personal growth work we do together!

Recipe of the Month

Here's an easy make ahead recipe for cottage cheese egg bites that you can customize with your favorite ingredients:

Cottage Cheese Egg Bites

Ingredients:

  • 8 large eggs
  • 3/4 cup cottage cheese (any fat content works)
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheese (optional)
  • 1/2 cup diced vegetables (e.g., bell peppers, mushrooms, onions, spinach)
  • 1/2 cup cooked & diced bacon or sausage
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions:

  1. Preheat Oven: Set your oven to 375°F. Line a 12-cup muffin tin with parchment paper liners or lightly grease with non-stick spray.
  2. Prepare Egg Mixture:
    • In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, cottage cheese, salt, and pepper until smooth.
    • Add shredded cheese and stir well.
  3. Add Vegetables/Meat:
    • Add diced veggies and meat to bottom of each muffin cup.
  4. Fill Muffin Tin with Egg Mixture:
    • Divide the egg mixture evenly among the muffin cups, filling each about 3/4 full.
  5. Bake:
    • Place the muffin tin in the oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the eggs are set and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  6. Serve:
    • Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving. These egg cups are perfect for breakfast or as a snack and can be refrigerated for up to 5 days or frozen for later use.

Stretch of the Month

~simple moves to refresh your body and mind~

Chair-Assisted Downward-Facing Dog

This pose offers a supported way to stretch your spine, hamstrings, and calves while strengthening your arms, shoulders, and wrists. It's perfect for those with limited mobility or flexibility or when you need a quick stretch while working at your desk.

Stand behind a sturdy chair with your feet hip-width apart. Place your hands on the back of the chair for support.

Bend your knees slightly and engage your core muscles to maintain stability.

Slowly bend forward from the hips, keeping your back straight and your arms straight. You can adjust the depth of your bend based on comfort.

Focus on stretching your hamstrings and calves while maintaining a long spine. Hold for a few breaths.

Slowly return to standing, using the chair for support if needed.

Important Note:

As always with any poses, remember to take care of yourself and consult your doctor before beginning any exercise program.

Self-Care Tip of the Month: The Power of Rest

Rest isn’t a luxury—it’s essential for your well-being. In a world that glorifies busyness, giving yourself permission to pause is an act of self-care. Rest isn’t just about sleep (though that’s important!); it’s also about creating space for stillness, reflection, and restoration.

Growing up, I learned the tradition of afternoon tea from my mom, who is from England. It wasn’t just about the tea—it was about slowing down, taking a breath, and savoring a moment of rest in the middle of the day. Whether it’s a warm cup of tea, a quiet walk, or a few deep breaths between tasks, intentional rest helps regulate stress, boost energy, and improve overall health.

This month, I encourage you to listen to your body. Where can you build in moments of rest? Remember, when you slow down, you recharge—allowing you to show up as your best self for yourself and those you love.

Did you know I'm also a life coach? Think of it as a gym membership for your soul! Curious if life coaching is the right next flourishing move for you? Let's connect on a free Discovery Call and talk about the possibilities.

I believe self-care is not a luxury—it’s a necessity. It requires intentional practice of the habits that nurture and sustain a healthy body, mind, and soul.
